Re: Capt. Obvious here......

Go get em Gary!
Been slow down here on public land. Had one hang up four times. Kept moving in closer each day but he would hang up 80 yards out. Nice bird but definitely call shy. Anyway, got a better hunt coming up. Hope to get a nice one!

Re: Intro

Hello Team, Unusually slow start on this end. Knowing how to hunt birds isn't much help when hunting around dangerous hunters on public land. Right when the sun was coming up a couple of morons come into the field where we were set up. After a light flashing exchange they set up in the field under a...

Re: Top mistakes by new turkey hunters

I think that we are leaving out giving up too early along with not being still. I've seen too many newbies give up after an hour and a half. Many birds can be killed by waiting ( or coming back to the spot where he answered you first thingin the morning). Sooo he hollered at you, but when you didn't...

Re: tent camping on hunt?

It's usually really nice here in March. I love to camp for the bonus experience. I use my backpacking gear. Light and quick. Top of the line Therma-Rest sleeping pad works for me.

Tim,
How about Green Swamp? A lot of walking but there are birds.

Re: No Permit This Season!

Great news from FWC! There was an anomaly in their new system. Turns out I was awarded a permit for Caravelle Ranch WMA. The place is loaded with turkeys! Now if some of that luck will follow me till March 16th, I'll have my Osceola!

Re: One less predator my neck of the woods!

Nice cat! Our thanks!
Had one come screaming into the hammock opening day last season. Gobbler took off running. Alan took a departing shot but missed. We were dumbfounded. That was a first and hopefully a last!
